General Art Collab Questions
What is an Art Collab?
An Art Collab is an event where artists come together to create artwork based on outfits a specific character has been represented in.
The goal is for each artist to bring the chosen outfit to life, following the provided guidelines, and contribute to a larger collection that is revealed at the end of the event.
What is a claim?
Claims refers to the outfit you have asked for! If a mod approves it, that's what you get to draw.
How do I join?
Simply join our discord server (no pressure, you can always leave—however, if you leave while you have an unfinished/unsubmitted claim it will be considered forfeit)!
Also consider following us on Tumblr, Bluesky, or Instagram!
Do I have to apply?
No! All skills levels are welcome, and there is no sign up or application process other than following a given collab's instructions for joining.
Can I do traditional art?
Yes! Artists are allowed to use a variety of mediums as long as you can get a clean and clear picture of it.
As submissions must have a transparent background, if you need help getting rid of the background, just ask!
What is the end result?
A collage with all the outfits drawn displayed together!
Art Collab Process
1. Outfit Gallery
A collection of outfit references for Usopp available to participants. You can choose which one you'd like to draw once the claim period starts.
There's two versions: one that's categorized, and one that's a "dump" so you can just scroll through all of them all at once!
2. Claiming Process
When claiming opens, participants will follow instructions to request the outfit they want to draw. A mod will confirm your choice with you.
Note: Claiming is available throughout the entire creation period.
3. Creation Period
After an outfit is confirmed, participants can begin creating their artwork. Make sure to check out the "rules" channel in the discord for file specifications!
4. Submissions
Once you've finished your piece its time to submit it! Instructions for how to upload your work to Google Drive are in the "submissions" channel! There is no need to wait to share your creation on socials. It's yours!
5. Final Showcase
All artwork submitted will be compiled into a final collage and shared. The completed artwork (collage) will be revealed on the final posting date of the event (June 7, 2026).

Usopp's Design
Black fans have pointed out many times that Usopp's design is racist, in particular how his lips are drawn.
What is being done to prevent creating or spreading racist art in this fandom space?
The "donut lips" or "sambo lips" come from racist caricatures in blackface minstrel shows of the 19th century in the United States. The stereotypes that originated from these performances were carried into the 20th century during the Jim Crow era.Oda was born in the 70s and many children in the that time would watch cartoons from the 1930s-1960s where depicting black people like that was the norm. This lead him to adopting that into his art style. Another factor was Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball, who was also known to give his characters sambo lips (he also was influenced by old cartoons). His works have greatly influenced Oda's style. While it's unlikely Oda was intending to be racist when designing Usopp, just because you don’t have any malicious intentions, doesn’t mean it’s not racist/offensive.We can’t control what Oda or Toei does but we can take it upon ourselves not to continue drawing Black/ people with thicker lips that way.
Also in regards to Usopp's skin color and hair texture. In canon he has a light skin tone and a hair texture that varies from being wavy or very curly. Black people come in all different shades and many people have different headcanons on how dark or light Usopp should be. Similarly, Black people have a wide variety of natural hair types and people have different preferences with how they draw his hair texture. Just know there is a difference between being a Black person with lighter skin or a looser hair texture and white washing. If you really aren't sure what color to make him or how to draw his hair just color drop/reference from the pre time-skip anime.
With this event all we want is to cultivate a safe and fun environment for everyone, so mods have put in place some rules for both the server in general and the art event. We understand not everyone might be familiar with the origins of donut lips nor be an expert on the harms of whitewashing. We simply ask everyone listen to the collab mods and take responsibility when a mistake is made. This collab takes a firm stance against racist caricatures and we are always eager to help people improve! So take a deep breath, don't be intimidated or overwhelmed.
If you have any questions that aren't answered here or down below you can email or DM the mod team and we'll gladly answer them!
Art Event Rules
Artists will not be allowed to continue participating in the event if they submit artwork of Usopp with donut lips or whitewashed features.
If someone does, Mods will give them the chance to revise their work. If they refuse they will no longer be able to take part in the event*.
*This really only applies in cases of purposeful whitewashing and such. If you are new to drawing Black features we have a handful of resources to help you in a dedicated channel of the server!!
Since fans have a variety of headcanons for Usopp's hair, participants have creative liberty when styling his hair for their chosen outfit, as long as any headgear or hair accessories in the original reference image remains in the artwork.
Server Rules
When sharing non-event related art or posts from artists outside the event, refrain from sharing art that depicts Usopp (or characters with similar features) with donut lips or whitewashed features.
If someone does Mods will just kindly ask they delete the message from chat.
Sharing official art, like anime screenshots, manga panels, or promotional material is the one exception to the rule above. Since those are what we are using as references for our artwork and the server is a space where fans will be discussing/sharing official material, it would make no sense to ban those here.
